As per the Goal, Chelsea are lining up a move for Borussia Dortmund centre-back Sokratis Papastathopoulos in the summer transfer window.

The 29-year-old Papastathopoulos has made 155 appearances for the Bundesliga giants since joining Borussia Dortmund back in 2013 but the experienced defender is being strongly linked with a Premier League switch ahead of the 2017/18 season.

The same sources claim that the Greece international has grown frustrated at the Signal Iduna Park which has put Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte on alert this summer. It is believed that another London giants Arsenal are also keeping close tabs on Sokratis.

Neither side has made an official move for the defender but it is understood both Premier League clubs will be scouring the market for defensive reinforcements in the coming months.

During his interview with Funke Mediengruppe, Papastathopoulos said: ‘When you are young you have time to get things, but I am not anymore and I want to win titles.’

Dortmund, however, are willing to keep hold of the former Werder Bremen centre-back so it may take a sizeable bid to prise the Greece international away from their grips. Papastathopoulos is tied into a contract at Dortmund until the summer of 2019.
