Arsene Wenger has admitted that there is “nothing concrete” regarding the future of Arsenal striker Alexis Sanchez, amid stories of a bidding war between Manchester United and Manchester City.
The Manchester clubs are reportedly battling it out for the 29-year-old’s services, despite being able to pick up him on a free agent at the end of the season.
United’s suggested interest in Sanchez, which could see Henrikh Mkhitaryan head the opposite way, may have complicated things for the North Londoners as they were initially determined to keep their key man until the summer.
As suggested by Wenger, though, it stays to be seen whether the Chilean will still be at the Emirates Stadium come the beginning of February.
“Look. Honestly, I cannot tell you much more at the moment about this situation,” he told reporters. “Nothing is concrete. I don’t want to give you wrong information. Nothing is decided one way or another.
“It is always beneficial to the club who can take advantage. But we are not in that. Normally you should stay until the end of the season, but we will see.”
The Chile International has yet to hit the heights of last campaign in an Arsenal shirt. However, he has still managed seven goals and three assists in 19 Premier League games.
Leicester City attacker Riyad Mahrez reportedly favours a move to Arsenal this month, despite beginning talks with Premier League rivals Liverpool.
The African is believed to be at the middle of a transfer tug-of-war between the two sides, both of whom are set to spend big to land one of their top targets.
The Reds were the first to make a move as, according to The Express, negotiations are already underway with Leicester and Mahrez over the terms of a January switch.
However, the same report indicates that the 26-year-old is holding out for an offer from Arsenal, which is incredible to arrive until they offload Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City.
City manager Claude Puel reiterated on Thursday that he is keen to keep Mahrez at the King Power Stadium, where the football handed in a transfer request at the start of the season.
Meanwhile, Manchester United have reportedly set Celtic’s Kieran Tierney on their transfer wish list as the Red Devils consider reinforcing their defence at the end of the 2017-18 season.
Despite Luke Shaw’s development in recent weeks, it is believed that United are in the market for a new full-back, and Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon is believed to be very much in the ideas of head coach Jose Mourinho.
However, as reported by the Daily Record, the 20-time English champions have also been carefully observing the displays of Celtic full-back Tierney with the view to a possible move.
Tierney came from the youth system at Celtic, and earlier signed a new six-year deal with the Hoops.
The nine-time Scotland international has netted three times and made seven assists in 36 games for his club during the 2017-18 season.
Arsenal have reportedly listed a meeting with Bordeaux to consider a move for Malcom, who remains to be linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.
On Sunday, it was suggested that negotiations between Arsenal and Bordeaux were “progressing well” as the Gunners look to beat many teams to the services of the 20-year-old.
As reported by the Sky Sports Italia, Arsenal will meet with the French side to thrash out a move for a player that has also been linked with Tottenham Hotspur, Bayern Munich and Manchester United.
The South American, who joined Bordeaux from Corinthians in January 2016, has netted seven times and made four assists in 18 Ligue 1 appearances during the 2017-18 season.
Bordeaux are understood to rate left-footed forward Malcom in the region of £40m.
Meanwhile, Manchester United and Arsenal are reportedly leading the hunt to land Brazil star Fred – with Shakhtar Donetsk set to listen to offers.
Performing over 140 matches since signing from Sports Club Internacional in 2013, Fred has become a key footballer for Donetsk over the past four seasons but is being heavily linked with a January move.
Having originally been reluctant to offload the 24-year-old, Donetsk are now open to offers, prompting interest from many European sides.
The likes of Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with moves however the Daily Star say Premier League rivals Man United and Arsenal are favourites to secure his services.
Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger are both keen to reinforce their options during the January transfer window and Fred, who is contracted to Donetsk until 2021 and valued at £30million, has been identified as a prime target.
English top-league leaders Manchester City have also expressed interest in Fred, however United and Arsenal are believed to be at the front of the race.
Arsenal are also believed to be interested in out-of-favour Chelsea defender David Luiz.
