Arsenal and Tottenham are both keen on signing Real Madrid ace Mateo Kovacic, as reported to stories in Spain.

The Croatian joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2015 from Inter Milan for £25million. However, he has struggled to hold onto a first-team spot at the Bernabeu.

And as reported by Spanish outlet Diario Gol, the Croatia International has drawn interest from Premier League rivals Arsenal and Tottenham.

He could also be in line for a move back to Italy, with AC Milan, Inter Milan and Roma all believed to be interested.

Diario Gol suggests Arsenal and Tottenham represent “less viable” options than the Serie A clubs.

However, they suggest. Spurs will look to accelerate their interest if they lose key man Dele Alli this summer.

Kovacic started just 19 of his 27 league games last campaign, however, did help Zinedine Zidane’s squad to Champions League and La Liga successes.

Despite his lack of game time, Kovacic’s agent Nikky Vuksan recently ruled out a summer exit.

Talking to TMW last month, he claimed: “There is no news, or rather, there is no chance that any will be produced,

“Mateo has a very long contract with Real Madrid, until 2021.

“Therefore I do not understand all of these rumours, all of this speculation about his future. Kovacic plays for a great club like Real Madrid and is very happy. Each day I listen and read news stories that explain a possible exit, but it is not true, at all.

“He has an optimal relationship with his team-mates and with the coach, therefore I reiterate it clearly.  Kovacic will not leave Real Madrid, he will stay, (I can) safely (say that). All the rest is not true.”
