Carlo Ancelotti has rejected the offer to become Italy manager and desires to return to the Premier League.

Ancelotti, the former Chelsea manager, was offered the role of Azzurri head coach last week, but Gazzetta dello Sport say the 58-year-old does not want the job as he wishes to remain in club management.

This is a boost to Arsenal, who are searching for a new manager as Arsene Wenger will step down from his role at the Emirates at the end of 2017/18.

Ancelotti has been reported as a target of Arsenal’s, and The Sunday Times makes it clear he is open to taking charge of the north Londoners; the former Milan boss wants to return to English football, according to the report, and he has publicly stated his desire to discuss the vacancy.

Roberto Mancini, the former Manchester City boss, and ex-Leicester coach Claudio Ranieri are named as the two contenders to take charge of Italy.
