Lionel Messi has reportedly prevented Barcelona from offering Ousmane Dembele to Arsenal in exchange for Hector Bellerin.
The Spanish full-back started his career at the Spanish side’s academy however made a move to the North Londoners in 2011.
The Spaniard has been criticised for his displays this term and has been linked with a move ever since clashing with favourite fans platform ‘Arsenal Fan TV’ last month.
The head coach Arsene Wenger is under stress to keep his job, and the north London giants are likely to have a squad makeover this summer.
The Stories in Spain suggest that Arsenal are interested in Barca attacker Ousmane Dembele, who has struggled to make an impression at the Nou Camp since recovering from a severe hamstring injury.
As reported by the Don Balon, club president Josep Maria Bartomeu considered using Dembele as bait to tempt Bellerin back to La Liga.
However the report claims that Messi does not accept the transfer and has stepped in to block it.
And the Argentine’s intervention leaves the 22-year-old free to transfer to Real Madrid, who are seeking competition for Dani Carvajal.
The Gunners are at risk of missing out on Champions League football for the second campaign in a row.
They got back to winning ways last evening with a solid Europa League win at AC Milan.
